Parrots (Acrylic Paint)
A leopard (3B Pencil)
I took this image from a book that showed how to draw animals and how to shade them. I didn't follow those instructions at all, I just drew it completely free hand. I drew the outline of the leopard first and then shaded it in, then I added the fallen tree for effect. I used a 3B shading pencil and used a putty eraser to get certain shades.
For the background, I shaded it and then used the eraser to create the leaves and vice versa. I think I did this drawing very effectively.

Kingfisher (Acrylic Paint)
This painting took me around two hours to finish and I think I succeeded. I feel that this is my best painting so far out of my whole collection.
This was done with acrylics and with quite a limited palette. It took me around 20 minutes to draw the outline on the card and then I immediately began painting it. I chose very rich colors for the bird because I did copy this image but those colors were very bland so I wanted to change it up a bit so I chose some colors that would make the bird stand out. I gave the background a very watery wash with some green, yellow and white. Because I used cardboard to paint on, the color of it also gave a little effect to the background. I then just began painting the whole image, I did have a few mistakes and initially I made the head to small, luckily, my teacher came and told me about that so I just widened it.
I then took the remaining green, yellow and brown paint and made leaves and branches around the bird.

Jesus on the Cross (Watercolor paints)
Flowers (Acrylic paint)
I used acrylic paint for this piece because it was more visible than if I used watercolor paint because of the black paper. The first thing I did was use yellow paint to paint the petals and then I added some light brown to the petals from inside to out. This gave it more of an effect and that's what I needed to show the petals more in detail. Then for the middle of the flower, I just painted a blob of burnt umber brown paint and added a dot of yellow paint for effect.
After adding all the flowers, I then added the leaves, the leaves took a lot of practice because there was a certain way to paint them. I have to first put the brush on the paper, slide it for the length of the leaf, twist and then lift it off the paper. After making multiple leaves, I then had to paint the stems to connect all the flowers and leaves. I had to do that very carefully so that I would get it to be thin lines.

Scenery (Water Colors)
First, very lightly, I drew the outline of the trees. Then to create the background, I used the gradient wash technique to get a light blueish-green sky. Then using a strong blue, I again used the gradient wash, but this time for the water. This is all making sure that I didn't paint the 2 branches that were meant to remain white.
Next was painting the branch using a dark green and adding shadows on the branch with black paint. Then using a round brush, I painted the leaves. I varied the colors between green and yellow. As I was painting the leaves on the tree, I painted the greenery around the trees.
Then using a very thin brush, I painted the branches of the tree in different strokes to show that the branches are displaced. Finally, I added a few rocks in the water, showing the sun rays reflecting from the water.

Flowers (Acrylic Paint)
These flowers took almost 15 minutes to paint.
First was drawing in the outlines of the petals and leaves. Then using white paint, I painted over the pencil lines. After that, I painted random lines in the petals to create the flowery pattern. And followed the same steps for the leaves.
I made the stems thick to give the flowers some form.

Falcon (Water Colors)
For this painting, I first began with drawing the falcon in using a light pencil. Then for the background, I used a very watery blue around the page, and to get the texture of clouds, I used some salt. Then I began painting the bird
I started with the wings as I had to get the feeling of the falcon's feathers. Then I went to the head. And finally finished the falcon by painting its claws a bright yellow-orange, which were placed around a rock.
To finish the painting, I used some dark greens and blues to paint the background. I painted dots connecting it with water to make it look like greenery.

Sparrows (8B Pencil)
To begin drawing this picture, I drew the sparrows outline very lightly using a 2B pencil. Then I started drawing the eye of the first sparrow. After the eye, I used the hatching technique to draw small lines, mimicking the texture of feathers.
I used the same technique for the second bird. Then for the background, I just shaded in the background around the birds and using an eraser, I rubbed in the branches. This was easier than drawing it in, because I would get a better outcome. Finally, I added some charcoal around the birds to get the effect of the birds being the most important aspect in the drawing.

Woman wearing a hat with Flowers (Acrylic Paints, Water Colors and Tissue paper)
This painting had a long process to it. First was making the roses and leaves. I had to first rip tissue paper and keep it in sets. Then to get the color, I mixed some red water paints to a lot of water. Then in another cup, I mixed yellow paint with water. For the flowers, I dipped half of the tissue into the red paint, and the other half into the yellow paint. I let it mix and rolled it into a round shape. I then repeated the process a few times, to create 5-6 red and yellow roses. Then I repeated the process with purple and yellow paint. Finally was creating the leaves. I dipped half of the tissue into some green paint and the other half into the yellow paint. Then I folded it into a diamond shape. I then left all the flowers and leaves to dry on a card board covered with foil.
While the flowers were drying, I had to paint the background using a big square brush and all different types of browns. Then while it dried, I drew 3 ovals, overlapping on a piece of paper. I then painted it using dull water colors. I cut it out and using double-sided tape, stuck it to the painted board. Then I placed the flowers and leaves in certain places and using superglue, stuck it to the hat. As it looked very plain, using acrylic paints, I painted some extra leaves and small flowers on sticking out of the side. Then to create hair, I cut out strips of painted paper and used a scissor to curl it. I stuck it under the hat to create the hair. Finally, with black paint, I painted on some sunglasses and the neck, not putting the detail of the nose or mouth in. With some white paint, I tried to get some tone in the glasses.

Desert (Water Colors)
As one of the first paintings I did, this was simple. The background consisted of 3-4 colors. Then the ground was done using a very grey and brown color.
For the trees, I used a dark blue to create the trunks, then with some greenish blue, I made the leaves using the hatching technique.
The last thing to do was the grass. It was definitely the easiest part. I again used the hatching technique going upwards. This was done using different shades of green.

Vase with Flowers (Acrylic Paints)
To create this piece, there was a special technique I used for the background. I used the marbling technique to get the dark grayish-pink color running diagonally through the middle of the board and lighter pink colors filling up the sides.
Next was drawing the vase and positioning the flowers. I used a 4H pencil to draw in the lines very lightly. I then began to paint, I first started with the vase. I made sure to keep the shadows as real as possible. Then I painted the leaves, I tried to create as much texture as possible to tell the difference of the leaves from the vase (which was the same shade of green). Then with all the wholes in between the leaves, I began painting the flowers. Using a dark shade of pink and a light shade of blue, I painted the flowers making sure they stood out of the dark green leaves.
To finish of the painting, I painted floor/table so the vase didn't look as it was floating in the air. I then added my name and date.

Flowers (Felt Tips)
All the detail in this entire piece is done with felt tips (markers),
First I used some tracing paper so draw on the flowers from which I then copied to the actual canvas. I drew all the outlines in pencil and then using the markers, started putting in the color.
The lines in the piece are curvy, spiky and straight, This was to create the effect of the shape of the petals, leaves and curtains. For the tones, I used some darker colored markers first and then changed the color to create the dark to light tones.

Still Life (Water Colors)
For this still life painting, I used a jug, an apple, a pomegranate, a teapot, a tissue roll and some flowers.
First, I drew the objects on a separate paper to get the right proportion of each shape. Then, using some tracing paper, I traced all the objects onto the paper covering the whole middle part.
The painting part was easy, I started with the apple and pomegranate, getting the tone of light to dark. Then I began to paint the teapot and jug, for the jug the tone went from light to dark (left to right), the teapot's tone went from up to down (light to dark). Finally, the tissue roll and the flowers. The tissue roll hardly had any tone, except the one sheet of tissue coming out. The flower went from dark in the middle, to light on the outside.
For the table, where all the objects are resting upon, was light (left side) to dark brown (right side). The background was done using very watery yellow orange, the texture was done using some scrunched up tissue paper.

Flowers and a Bee (Water Colors)
This painting was done fully with water colors and a lot of water. the shades are from dark to light. I got this range by just adding certain amounts of water to the color.
Before the painting was drawing it in pencil. I first drew the outline in pencil and then drew the lines inside them. After finishing the painting, I used a micro-tip pen to outline the different ranges. Then using a thick permanent marker, I drew the outlines of all the main objects.

One Color Scenery (Water Color)
After painting so many pieces with color, I decided I would paint a scenery using one color, black.
It was not that difficult though. First was the background which was a graded wash, which is the same as a flat wash but is more diluted than a flat wash. To set the spacing, the mountains were painted first, Using some black paint and lots of water, I painted the first set of mountains in a curvy line, then adding some more paint and water, I did another curvy line to create the second set of mountains. Then I repeated the same step a third time to create 3 sets of mountains. To show that the mountains are behind something, I painted in some trees.
Then came the dunes, first I used paint and water and did a wavy line, then using the same brush, no more paint and water, did another wavy line. Then I repeated the process again to get 3 dunes. I then added a tree, some houses, some cows in the grass area and some birds in the sky. Finally to create the real effect of a scenery, I painted on a gate and added some grass.

Eagle (Acrylic Paints)
First with pencil, I drew the outline very faintly. To make the eagle easier to paint, I did the background first with some light brown adding some black to create a kind of woody effect. Then with some orange paint, I started with the beak.
It went from orange to red. Then I did the feathers on the face, I tried my best to put the shadow in from the eye. Last but not least was the body, which was dark brown, nearly black.

Peaches (Acrylic Paints)
I got my inspiration of this painting from a book that had all of Paul Cezanne's work.
This painting was very complex as I had to get the shadows of the peaches. I needed to also get the shadow the the plate holding the peaches. Normally, you would start painting the background first, in this painting, I started with the peaches. They needed practice first, just so the shadows would be showed realistically and the shape of the peaches were perfect.
After painting the peaches, they looked like an orange and yellow pyramid of balls, with nothing dividing them to look like peaches. I added so leaves into the painting to make it look more real. Then was the plate, First I had to paint the white part which people usually see first, then was the bottom of the plate with the extra curve.
Finally, I began to paint the background. I used the remaining orange and yellow paint, mixed with different shades of brown to create the balance of light and dark shades. I finished the painting off with my name and date at the right hand corner.

Abstract Cake (Water Colors)
For this painting, I first drew a small version of my cake. Then adding extra lines and curves to the painting made it abstract.
I used all the same colors in this painting as I had in my real cake. For the background, I used different shades of brown to bring out the different pinks and greens.

Woman (Water Colors)
First I drew a woman and her hand in the center of the page, then I drew lines in the face, the hand and the background to make it look abstract.
I then used different colors to paint it, the face and hand was painted using different shades of brown.

Flowers (Acrylic Paints)
For this painting, I had to do the background first. I used a stencil to get the background by taping it to the board and using a single shade of green painted over the stencil.
Then while the background was drying, I needed practice painting the flowers and leaves. On a separate piece of paper, I practiced the flowers using a special technique. Using the same technique, I painted the leaves.
Finally, after getting the hang of painting the flowers and leaves, I began painting the flowers on the board. I then filled the spaces with leaves. To finish the painting, I added some black vines sticking out of the flowers and leaves.

Dog (Water Color)
First I drew the picture of the dog on some water color paper. Then using thin and thick strokes, I tried to create a fluffy effect for the ears and face. I only used black water color paints and lots of water. If I made a mistake, I used some very watery white paint to correct the painting.
The background, was done from dark to light (right to left).

Decopadge (Tissue Paper and Water Colors)
This picture was very easy to paint, first was the big flower, which was actually tissue paper. I cut it out and stuck it on a piece of water color paper. I stuck it using some PVA glue, mixed with water, then I added the flowers and leaves by the same method of sticking it with the PVA glue.
After everything had dried, I need to make sure that the flowers around the main one, looked like flowers so I put red dots in a circle and put a black dot of paint in the middle. To make the leaves look more real, I painted some more leaves, using the push, lift, twist method. The came to extra leaves and vines, those were very easy to paint on, I used the hatching technique. The vines were just lines sticking out of the flower but not a straight line. Finally, I had painted 3 vines coming out from the bottom of the flower, looking like a bunch of flowers. Because the background was looking boring in white, I used some very watery light brown paint to attract the viewer straight to the flower.

Snowy Day (Water Color and Salt)
Using salt in this painting helped create a new texture for the background.
Then using the gradient wash technique, I created a sort of pathway down to the bottom of the page. After that, I painted the different sized trees. I needed to create the sense that there were trees in the background as well.
Finally, I used the tip of a palette knife to get the feeling of worn out grass.

Tree (Acrylic Paints)
To create the background, I used different colors to create the value of light to dark. I used a palette knife to create the different texture. When the background was dry, I started the tree, which was done using the y-tree technique.
The tree was also with tone going from dark to light. left to right. After the tree was painted, I painted in a fence and then filled up the bottom of the board.

Fallen Log (Acrylic Paints)
First thing I did was the background, which was a plain blue. When I got to the half line, I painted the blue with a little more texture. Then, I painted the hills, with a few shades of green, to create the greenery feeling. Then on top of the hills, I painted clouds.
Then I started painting the log, the color varied from yellow ochre to dark brown. Then painting the branches, I painted the branch and then added the shadow to it. Finally was the boat, rocks and ground underneath the log. The ground was painted the same colors as the hills. The boat was painted a dark orange, nearly red color. The rocks were grey, added some tone to it with the white, which created form to go with it.

My Name (Acrylic Paints)
This had a very long process. I first had to draw the pot, getting the right proportions and matching symmetries. Then was transferring it onto the board.
Before the pot was drawn onto the board, I had to paint the background. While the paint was drying, I had to try to find a way of putting my name into the pot. I then transferred the pot onto tracing paper which made it easier to outline to copy.
Then I painted my name using black paint, and outlined any messy lines with a black marker. If you turn the painting 90 degrees anti-clockwise, you will see that the pot is the one on the one dirham coin (UAE currency).

Rose (Water Colors)
I first drew the rose outline in pencil. Then with the pink paint color, I painted the rose from dark to light tones to try and create the feeling of numerous petals in the one flower.
The background was done some dull colors and a lot of water. Then while it was still wet, I used an ear bud to lift out the color, creating spots in background.

House and its Flowers (Acrylic Paints)
First thing to paint was the background, which I decided to paint blue. Then was the house and the railing. The railing was done with white acrylic paint in vertical strokes. The house was first painted with white paint like a triangle except for the bottom line. The flowers were next, using some red paint, I just pushed the brush down on the paper, to create a flower texture, leaving some areas free of red to put some leaves there.
Using all the different shades of green, I created leaves coming out of the space between the house and the railing. Last but not least, the palm trees. This was done using the hatching technique.
